JUDAICS SPECIAL EVENTS

At Yavneh Academy, Judaic education includes more than classroom study of traditional texts. We believe students should also be afforded the opportunity to celebrate Jewish history, traditions, and holidays through school-wide special events. To that end, Yavneh holds Judaics special events throughout the school year. A small sampling of these events includes:

  • The All-School Retreat, a camping trip held during the fall semester during a Shabbat.
  • Events celebrating Israeli Independence Day. Made possible in part through a generous grant from Avi Chai Foundation, Yavneh hosts a series of events to celebrate Israeli Independence Day, including a barbecue and picnic, as well as community events co-hosted with Dallas congregations.
  • The All-School Shabbaton held at Shaare Tefillah during the spring semester.
  • Events celebrating Channukah, including speakers and parties, some of which are open to the community.
  • A series of activities celebrating Sukkot, including a special movie, games, elective lectures.
  • Valuing and treasuring the unique role of women in preserving the Jewish people, Yavneh celebrates Rosh Chodesh as a special women's holiday. Special programming is often arranged by our talented Shlichot Tzi'irot from Israel.
  • The traditional day school “Color War,” a one-day event comprised of numerous activities and games.
