Yavneh offers opportunities beyond the classroom for students interested in writing and journalism.
Yavneh Literary Journal & Literary Café
The Yavneh Literary Journal, Yavneh’s artistic and literary annual publication, includes a variety of artistic pieces and student poetry. Some of these pieces have also been published in other journals, including the Dallas Public Library’s Express Yourself and the Anthology of Young American Writers.
Works included in the Journal are presented publicly at Yavneh’s annual Literary Café, a public performance of student compositions held each year at Half-Price Books in Dallas.
The Bulldog Print, Yavneh's award-winning school newspaper, provides an opportunity for students to participate in research and writing. The paper includes articles on school news, opinion pieces, and reports on current affairs. Members are encouraged to develop article ideas, discuss current events, and improve writing techniques. All students have the opportunity to write at least one article and can assist with newspaper layout. Several full-color issues are published each school year. During the 2007-2008 school year, the paper was named one of the nation's top school newspapers.
Yearbook
Working on the yearbook is an exciting and fulfilling experience. Students participate through creative and objective writing, as well as graphic arts. The goal of the yearbook is to create an accurate representation of the school year that will serve as a catalyst for lifelong memories.
