Chad Baruch came to Yavneh Academy in 1997. He serves as assistant principal, director of athletics, basketball coach, debate coach, and government instructor. In addition to his work at Yavneh, Mr. Baruch is a Dallas attorney who serves in multiple leadership positions for the State Bar of Texas. He has served on the State Bar of Texas Board of Directors, the State Bar College Board of Directors, and as Chair of the State Bar Council of Chairs, Chair of the State Bar Individual Rights & Responsibilities Section, Chair of the State Bar Consumer & Commercial Law Section, and Course Director for the State Bar's Bill of Rights Course. Mr. Baruch is a published expert on constitutional history and civil liberties, and was recently featured in an educational video concerning seminal United States Supreme Court decisions. Mr. Baruch is a contributor to Black's Law Dictionary.
Mr. Baruch received his B.A. in political science from the University of Minnesota and his J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School. He also completed the Principals Institute in the Graduate School of Education at Harvard University.
Noted for teaching excellence by the Texas Association of Accredited Private Schools, he has published more than 25 legal articles and book chapters, including several articles discussing the intersection of Jewish and secular law. Mr. Baruch is an approved grader for the AP Government Examination, and was the keynote speaker at the Texas Association of Accredited Private Schools Annual Conferences in 2005 and 2011. In 2006, he was a finalist for the Texas Coach of the Year award from the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches. The Texas Access to Justice Commission named Mr. Baruch a "Pro Bono Champion" in 2010, and he received the State Bar's Standing Ovation Award in 2008.
